Maruya

For over a hundred years Maruya has been an Inn for travelers to rest and eat on their journey from the North Japan sea to Kyoto. Its a simple down to earth cafe offering a number of lunch options at reasonable prices. They also offer seasonal meals with Ayu ( a sweet tasting fish) and evening meals for groups if ordered in advance. Family run and friendly this is close to the Kayabuki no sato or thatched village.

This photograph shows the Japanese hearth that can be used for groups who book in advance or who stay overnight at the inn. Lunch starts from around 1000 yen and you can stay the night and have 2 meals for 10000 Yen (more if you want a special dinner with local wild boar meat).
